Funki Porcini
Posted by Scott
This classic from Funki Porcini’s album Hed Phone Sex always hits the spot. I’ve been wanting to post it, but not wanting to post it’s poorly designed album cover. So I’ve posted the cover to another Porcini release, Fast Asleep, which is amazing. If you look closely you’ll see that the titling is all done in vintage audio gear, pretty clever.

July 17, 2008 at 7:04 amThis has to be my favorite album to listen to while trying to fall asleep on a plane. “Last Night Over Norway” and “Offshore Birmingham” are two amazingly beautiful tracks.

July 17, 2008 at 9:28 amThe above album cover is as equally cool as the Hed Phone Sex cover is bad. I love the equipment spelling out the title. And a great track.

July 17, 2008 at 2:40 pmI see reel-to-reel in there, do you use reel-to-reel by chance? I thought you meantioned just using a strait A/D Converter. I was wondering mostly because I’d like to know what’s involved from someone that actually uses one.
I am guessing this isn’t just a photograph and that it’s actually “photoshopped”. I know, dumb to ask, but whatever. I noticed the rug was a circuit board and at first glance didn’t see the spelling in the equipment. So, in short, it’s a very weird, 2 dimensional “open up your eyes” kinda design. Very clever indeed.

July 18, 2008 at 6:23 pmGreat track! I was kind of surprised that I had never heard of him, since I listen to a lot of artists are signed on Ninja Tune. Slick cover too.

July 30, 2008 at 4:41 amGreat post! I’ve always been a fan of your site/blog consuming it whenever the whim took me. The ideal tonic for those early mornings back working for MS(uuurgh!)
Now free and travelling the globe I figured I’d drop by to say hello. Funki prochini playing in the background. The sunny beach of NhaTrang (Vietnam) visible over the screen. bliss!
Keep up the good work and keep enjoying all that it is you enjoy, the rest of us seem to feel the same!
Tanned regards,
Richard :)

August 11, 2008 at 5:37 amThe album cover is by Stricktly Kev, I think – at least he is the design director at Ninja Tune.
