The Drums+Washed Out+Solvent+Shlohmo

The Drums official LP dropped this week, i’ve been waiting for this for almost year I think. I had them down as writing my favorite song of 2009, definitely a perfect album to listen to while having fun with friends.

Washed Out is back and collaborates with Chairlift’ Caroline Polachek, a somber tempo and shows us that he’s on a great path of being able to make this sound something more than just a trendy genre, I hope to hear more.

Solvent’s new video debuted on Self-Titled’s site today and I had to share it with you, try not to fall in love with the characters that are playing the synths. I included the Vector Lovers remix below which is solid.

Shlohmo announced his upcoming EP called Camping which features a really nasty Shigeto remix, the EP also includes a remix by Baths and a few new cuts by the young talent.

Washed Out + James Murphy + Caribou + KBD

Recently i’ve been finding a good amount of musicians having tour only releases which is great I think, this recently Washed Out one is full of great material, I hope it becomes a trend so musicians can recoup on the ongoing album download frenzy.

The new Ben Stiller movie Greenberg features a good portion of LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy doing the soundtrack, these tracks like Sleepy Baby always are the best, still hunting down one from the ending of the movie KIDS which I loved but never found out what it was.

Nite Jewel remixing the new Caribou single, a must hear.

A wonderful piece from Brooklyn’s Kyle Bobby Dunn, the drone expert has done it again with the perfect soundtrack for an afternoon nap.

Small Black & Washed Out

Call it Chillwave, Dreambeat or Glo-fi but whatever it is i’m in full support of this sound. The whole genre is like finding an old tape collection of damaged PBS pop music that was never released. I have the lucky opportunity to be in Brooklyn at this time which eats this music up which always isn’t a bad thing because that means live shows while the sound is fresh to the ears. One band i’m excited about is Small Black, their song Pleasant Experience makes me feel like i’m close to real warm water while Despicable Dogs is a bit more noisier and has hints of Big CountryIn A Big Country PLEASE TELL ME YOU HEAR IT! or am I crazy?
