SunKilMoon + Gardens&Villa + Onra + Bibio

Mark Kozelek could write a song about oatmeal and i’d first in line to check it out. His new album Among The Leaves is full of gold plus plenty of live versions, if you want more I made a Sun Kil Moon / Red House Painters / Mark Kozelek playlist years ago on the blog.

Sasquatch Festival was one of the most tolerable festivals i’ve been to, you don’t feel like cattle and the security guards are super kind and keep the crowd happy by letting the energy happen. Gardens & Villa we’re the best band live, great stage presence and kept you ever wanting them to end.

Onra is slowly unveiling tracks from his upcoming sophomore album, the first taste is L.O.V.E. a track thats more upbeat than a lot of his recent tunes.

I don’t much about Chateaubriand but this edit of an oler Bibio cut is getting some love recently. I guess it just gave me a chance to post about an older great record which never hurts.

Onra + Solvent + Samiyam + Eric Wareheim!!!!

A new Onra single is out, for some it might just sound like the Casino level in Sonic The Hedgehog on Sega Genesis but to many of the heads its a solid ode to 90’s R&B.

A sneak peek at the upcoming Solvent LP coming to us via his single that drops next week digitally. Less stiff than previous Solvent releases and a lovingly tame style fills the Lost For Words track, should go over big with new and old Solvent fans.

Samiyam has something that a good chunk of the new wave of beat makers don’t have is the attention to choice samples that makes a song feel like he owns a sound. Samiyam keeps things rough, loose and most important honest, he still makes music he wants to hear and it shows release after release that he’s one of the better beatsmith’s out there.

Can we talk about how genius Eric Wareheim is? just taking an idea that is so simple and embarassing and just running it thru the mud in front of your grandma, this kind of humor will never die.

I went to a Minimal Wave show once here in New York, probably one of the more memorable shows i’ve been too because of the dark atmosphere and hidden venue. The girl that djed played some stuff that sounded like Oppenheimer Analysis at times and I recently just found out that they originally came out on Minimal Waves label, well that was a nice coincidence, definitely a great synth pop song.

Policy of Truth.

Anyone ever see Air France LIVE? i’d like to know how they would do a show of their music live? maybe they just DJ? either way if you’re sick of MGMT and need to pull it back a couple notches than try this song No Way Down.

Simple yet to the point, Onra has a nice hold on abstract hip hop world right now with Nosaj Thing, Mux Mool, Hudson Mohawke and Samiyam.
