It messes with my brain waves or something – in a good way :) Thanks scott 41 david says: December 11, 2007 at 3:28 pm your work sounds rich with all the right sounds. but i have to ask the question. why do you continue to rip off the board of canada? its one thing to reference and be inspired. but a whole other thing to rip off. i hear rip off when i hear your work. not original. sorry i had to ask the question. not trying to hurt your feelings, just trying to voice mine. 42 Zachary Stowasser says: December 11, 2007 at 3:33 pm Beautiful work as always.. I bought two shirts from the shop too!! What a talented man! :) btw people I hope you’re waking up to whats going on in the world.. we need a revolution of peace and compassion!! vote ron paul 2008! learn more at my blog infopatriots.org 43 booby says: December 11, 2007 at 3:35 pm wow , i had no idea BOC released under another name. 44 Franky Junior the Third says: December 11, 2007 at 3:54 pm Awesome! I found myself putting it on repeat as I worked because it is so mellow and relaxing. Great work! 50 Gen says: December 12, 2007 at 6:50 am hey Scott, just wanted to say how great I think “The Daydream” is. It’s such a perfect working song. I found myself putting it on repeat as I worked because it is so mellow and relaxing. Great work! 51 Greg Formager says: December 12, 2007 at 8:48 am There are lots of artists out there that have an overlapping / similar sound at times – BOC, Kettel, Esem, Chris Willits, Ochre, Tycho, Flutterspot, Lusine (sometimes). I wouldn’t say that any of it is ripping anything else off though. Influenced by, but not a rip. 52 john says: December 12, 2007 at 11:11 am another boc rip. when will it stop.? 53 chris says: December 12, 2007 at 1:24 pm the daydream is amazing. i look forward to your next release, until then stay safe and have a nice holiday. 54 Ryan says: December 12, 2007 at 3:17 pm Great work on the single! Sounds different than most of your other tracks, but in a good way. It has more of a ‘band’ vibe to it I guess?? Digging the guitar arp too. 55 Jesse says: December 12, 2007 at 4:34 pm Cool stuff. Love BOC, Love Tycho. Don’t be a hater. 56 Anthony says: December 12, 2007 at 8:43 pm Well said. To be honest I think they sound quite different anyways. Beautiful work Tycho! 57 Jake Graydon says: December 13, 2007 at 4:00 am BOC is amazing, and so is Tycho. Why aren’t you able to appreciate both of these talented artists and not criticize such a beautiful IDM/Ambient/Downtempo art-form? I myself can hear many Boards of Canada influences in Scott’s work, and as well in my own. (He’s not “RIPPING”) When an artist influences & inspires other artists, they are actually accomplishing something in this world. We should embrace this! Try not to be so negative when you notice something like this, and appreciate it. Sorry everyone, I’m probably more offended than Scott was over the few negative comments. I just stand up for the things I love. 58 David Elsewhere says: December 13, 2007 at 5:32 am Tycho may have been influenced by BOC but he’s doing something with his own flavor. I feel it’s just as beautiful and in many instances more easily listenable than BOC… and I’m a long time BOC fan. Just because any electronic artist chooses to make his sound analogish and nostalgic doesn’t mean he ripping BOC. Why should BOC have a monopoly on this sound? They might have been one of the originals in this genre but with all the old school synths available it’s no wonder a lot of electronic musicians sound similar. I’d love to hear more artist with this sound. Boards rarely releases albums, so why not support and praise other artists that are similar, instead of hating on them? The negative posts on here really piss me off. 59 Gareth says: December 13, 2007 at 1:12 pm Quoting David Elsewhere: “I’d love to hear more artist with this sound. Boards rarely releases albums, so why not support and praise other artists that are similar, instead of hating on them?” Exactly!! Its like saying there can only be one punk band… sounds kinda silly doesn’t it. 60 Tony says: December 13, 2007 at 8:33 pm Awesome single. 61 Chelsey says: December 14, 2007 at 12:36 pm Such a great song, Scott. Sounds like it should be used as the backing to one of CSI’s lab montage scenes! 62 Andrea says: December 14, 2007 at 2:04 pm That song gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. The guitar also contributes a perfect touch. I love listening to Tycho CD’s when alone, I simply feel free You did a great work again. Congratulations Scott! Regards from BCN. 63 Alan says: December 15, 2007 at 11:31 pm LOVE the sound of TYCHO takes me to a place that gives me sensory journey and alters my mood uplifting me to heights of higher ground…GREAT VIBE… and GREAT MERCHANDISE TOO!!!! EXPERIENCE THE JOURNEY… 64 David says: December 21, 2007 at 3:43 pm Not to be redundant, but “The Daydream” is excellent. Your work as Tycho and Iso50 is very inspiring to me. Thanks. 65 John Pavouris says: December 21, 2007 at 6:33 pm I love this music!!!! ‘The Daydream’ is just that…dreamy. An inspirational song….beautifully, orchestrated. The guitar, the melodies, the sound…it’s incredible! I just want to float away every time I hear it…it takes me away….far, far away. Toronto, Ontario 66 knox3d.com says: December 22, 2007 at 2:17 am Guys talking about ripping: shame of you ! As someone said before artists give an insparation to each other and thats NORMAL absilutely… 67 iso says: December 22, 2007 at 8:49 pm this song is very nice… i love your music tycho…. amazing work… 68 kari says: December 23, 2007 at 11:15 pm im in love. 69 atmosphere says: December 27, 2007 at 9:31 am if earth made noise these songs / your sound is what i would hope to hear …………i love it so much i cant wait to get the entire albums . 70 fantique says: December 29, 2007 at 11:23 am It is the best present for this New Year! Can’t wait for the full length. Try to tour Canada (Toronto) if you can. My house is filled with your art! Take care, Matt 74 squarepusher says: March 2, 2008 at 7:29 pm nice work Beautiful 75 Alex says: March 7, 2008 at 8:44 am I like your music, but it’s definitely a Boards of Canada rip-off. Sorry, dude. “Past is Prologue” kinda pisses me off in spots. I feel like you should be paying royalties to BOC! You really need to take what you have right now, which is a good foundation, and really make it uniquely your own. Oh, and drop the female vocals …. cheesy. If you have any humility you’ll stop charging money for this cheap imitation. 76 budi haro says: March 8, 2008 at 7:21 pm beautiful sounds.. 77 voidness says: March 15, 2008 at 5:59 pm cant wait for the full album… 78 square.wav says: March 17, 2008 at 12:34 am As a musician, you offend me with your Boards of Canada imitations. It must be hard ripping off other peoples ideas… same with your “retro” designs. You can fool the ignorant, but those in the know can see right through your garbage. 79 jonathan says: March 18, 2008 at 8:33 pm :: Sigh :: Would the next person with biting criticisms please link to their own “original” works? Thanks for the good work, Mr. Hansen. 80 temp node says: April 12, 2008 at 12:04 am From my experience, I would advise against posting portfolios of work online to the public, unless you have some way of getting something for it (eg. a shop site like Scott has). And be sure to date & mark everything. :) I think that recognition or acknowledgement of influences can be appropriate. As Mr Lordi said in a recent interview, without KISS there would not have been Lordi. I’m guessing that is what some of these posters (some who sound quite angry) are reacting to – a perceived theft or pretence. Just something to think about. 81 david says: April 25, 2008 at 8:08 am thank you 82 Thee BeatNik says: August 4, 2008 at 7:14 am Bloody Smooth Tunes.. Can’t wait to hear more!! Cheers, K.d.W 83 bassnympho says: August 19, 2008 at 8:41 am this is awsome music and art you should tour the east coast 84 bassnympho says: August 20, 2008 at 9:23 pm your music is mesmerizing and your artwork is sublime 85 YvaughnStorey says: September 11, 2008 at 7:06 am I’m so glad i stumbled upon you guys, your sound is incredibly inspiring. Thanks, & keep doing it. 86 ok says: September 24, 2008 at 11:28 pm good site eoxjzf 87 Desiree says: November 9, 2008 at 11:19 pm This stuff puts my baby to sleep! 88 피터 says: January 1, 2009 at 2:09 am 너무너무너무 좋습니다!!!! 89 Anonymous says: April 20, 2009 at 7:48 am Wow!! – tycho and the design of the whole thing is brilliant- yea, it bears a striking similarity to BOC, but I dont care – tycho actually offers more for his fans than BOC in a way, with the clothing, design, albums and even live shows! 90 Ivan Spacek says: June 17, 2009 at 11:45 am GENIUS as always!!!!! thanks, thanks, thanks!!! 91 John Pavouris says: November 12, 2009 at 8:35 pm Looking forward to your live performance in Toronto, Ontario. Scott, you’re an inspiration.
