I caught a band called Husbands that put out a wavy, sun-speckled album called Golden Year.

https://husbandsokc.bandcamp.com/

Who knew two dudes from OKC would have so much SoCal in them? With songs like Phoenix, Some Surf and Stay Gold, I feel like anyone that digs Tycho-type tunes would be down with this band like I am.

Good vibes.

All of HEALTH in preparation for DEATH MAGIC, which has consumed the rest of my summer since its release.

So many to choose from:

Jamie XX – In Colour

Ty Segall discography

Four Tet – Morning/Evening

Lower Dens – Escape From Evil

NxxxxxS – Fujita Scale

…but summer sounds are still blasting:

#1 has to be Mac DeMarco – Another One

For me, Crazy P’s Walk Dance Talk Sing was the album of the summer. Many cookouts were had with this album playing in the background resulting in a bunch of people asking “What are we listening to? It’s awesome!”.

Major Lazer – Peace is mission

Maybe I’m getting old but that’s the sound I needed for this summer.
Jamie XX was too mainstream :D

Body Complex by Heathered Pearls.

With Shigeto and The Sight Below chiming in, it made for a great soundtrack traveling through both isolated mountain roads in early morning, and busy cities late at night.

Dear ISO50,
lots of great albums have been released so far this year, but nothing has been better than listening to ocean waves at the beach. The sounds of seawaves crashing filled me with calmness and a sense of belongingness.
That’s why i give the title “summer soundtrack of 2015” to Mediterranean Sea – Infinite Crashing Waves. 。^‿^。 Everybody should listen to it once in a while.
Unfortunately I was pinching my eyes too hard while looking out at the sea, The sun seems more powerful at the beach. Could hardly read this blog! Do you have ANY idea what could help to block out the rays?

Judging by my last.fm account it’s Currents by Tame Impala. But I’m yet to find out do i love or hate that one. I guess I’m still waiting an album that would blew me away this year. Oh yeah, new Neon Indian is great, but it’s only yesterday I first heard it. So that would actually be my late summer pick :D

For me, one particular album spoke to me – I only found out about this one because there was a remix EP scheduled featuring Telephones, Young Marco, & Max D. Recorded in the 80’s and sounds super fresh now.

“Boxer” from Otto Ohm.

It’s an italian group I love very much. this is not the best work of their own, but it’s the most recent album (2015).

Bye and excuse me for my English!

Future – DS2

While most Hip-Hop has such a heavy Yang vibe, Future, even when he is sounding his most braggadocio, has a melancholic, sensitive, Yin’ish nature. At times the lyrics can be cringey but he, along with his crew, make amazing music, which he sings, talks and raps too. Check out Blood on the Money, The Percocet and Stripper Joints, and Trap Niggas for dark, melodic songs that you can’t get out of your head.

Portable Sunsets – Bless

I work a lot of overnight shifts and have to commute an hour each way. This has been my go-to summer night driving album. Yes, it’s a bit dark…but I love it!

Ducktails – The Flower Lane. Actually had a chance to go see these guys live, and it was incredible to see how down to earth and hard working they are. They had so much passion about what they were doing, and everyone was so into the moment when they were performing. I had a chance to say hi to Matt and when I mentioned that his stuff is incredible, he was super humble about it and thanked me for coming to support him. Definitely awesome to know that there’s good people behind the mic making the music we love to listen to.

I may be late to this, but I have to say that “Hyperdub 10.1” has defined summer 2015 for me. A 2 disc juggernaut of footwork, grime and UK bass music.
