The real question at hand- are cassette tapes old enough to actually be considered “vintage” now? I say give them 10 more years. ;)

eric-
you make an interesting point, but I’d say nearly 20 years is vintage (if you look closely some of the tapes may even be older than that) … besides, vintage has more of a connotation that simply age:

vin·tage (vntj)
2. Characterized by excellence, maturity, and enduring appeal; classic.

I think that sums up cassette tapes quite well. but of course, everyone has a different definition of vintage I suppose, it’s such a broad term.

btw: nice new site. I remember seeing your work but I think you had a flash website? (that circular mopeds logo is classic [wait, vintage?]) I love how everyone is moving back to HTML sites for their portfolios, so much more accessible.

Hey Scott, thanks. I’ve stuck with HTML sites for a while, and actually the one up now has probably been up for about a year. In the process of redesigning now, though again all HTML. Agreed that full Flash portfolios, while slick, tend to bring their own unique accessibility issues.

And hey, according to that definition “vintage” definitely works here. I just tend to associate the word with time more than anything else. People can use it as they wish!
