Kolombo + Terje + Tame Impala + Ariel Pink

Posted by Jakub

I never went after the GusGus catalog, I liked what they did for Bjork – Hunter but that is my favorite Bjork song. I do like what Kolombo did for GusGus, mostly the chorus got a real good face lift.

If you want more Todd Terje just go in the search box over there to your right, I think i’ve posted over 10 tracks in the last year or so. I should just make a playlist of them all. The appeal is hard to put my finger on, its just what I like to hear, that spacey/psych disco guitar that sits in the back and a slow driving pace.

I want to like this Tame Impala song more, its just not clicking with me yet, I think I just need to listen to it 4 or 5 more times, what do you guys think?

Ariel Pink is really going for it, cleaned up completely, almost like there’s a joke behind it. The idea is there but the lyrics are making me wide eyed.

Having some issues with playback on this HTML5 player recently. Music randomly stops playing mid track and player gets stuck, does this on every track.

Got the 13″ MacBook Pro Running OSX 10.7 with Chrome.

Me too..with Safari.
Weird track from Tame Impala.
As a huge fan I like it. But it almost seems like they going a bit far into psychedelic zone. There are some very good lines in it ,but suddenly the lines go into something that feels as little anticlimax.
Phew.. hard explaining here for a dutch guy.
Anyway,thanx for posting.:-)

I know what you mean. Drum line reminds me of old Dr. Dog. Not a bad thing tho. Its always the play off between wanting to hear more of what you loved last time and a band evolving, progressing and keeping themselves interested and fresh. Your never gonna please everyone.

Im looking forward to hearing the rest and the single later in the month.

Like the tame impala song. I didnt realize I was digging it until about halfway through and I was busy working and thought I was listening to a remastered beatles song….I flipped to the page and restarted the song and liked it. Decent tempo for a psychadelic song and I like the melody. mellow with some decent variation.

I feel like I’m missing something cause I can’t seem to get into Tame Impala, seems like each song is 90% 70’s psych rock imitation, with pockets of amazing originality that catch me off guard. But it’s just not enough to keep me interested for a full five and a half minutes.

Digging the lo-fi vibes of course and in all honesty keep trying to give them a chance cause I love their album designs.

i agree about the tame impala track, but i think it’s because i want it to be super hooky like most of the tracks from the first LP. after listening a few more times with a more open mind, it started to grow on me. the vibe is definitely there, especially the bass guitar. dude holds that band down so well.

Couldn’t agree more, I feel like there’s something super special brewing in there and they haven’t tapped into it quite yet.
