Funny, Nosaj Thing was the my first thought too.. maybe he’s not underrated enough. :P I also agree with Daedelus. Just to have some different ones: Raleigh Moncrief, Shlohmo, . But I can’t say I know if they’re in L.A. I love Toki Monsta too but she might not qualify as underrated. Fail. I may come back to this..there are a lot..

1: Nosaj Thing “Drift” album is so good, Fog got me hooked (best underrated by far). I dig the remix he did of Flying Lotus’s “Camel” too.
2: Flying Lotus’s “Los Angeles” album was amazing back in the day, and Cosmogramma is just as good.
3: Baths dig False B-Sides

Teebs, Daedelus (saw both of these guys play a show in Pasadena in January and I was one of about 20 people there – just not right.), Stars of the Lid/Brian McBride (McBride lives in Echo Park now).

tokimonsta, matthewdavid, and virtual boy (who technically attend chapman university in orange and started there but they’re all over the la scene) :)

p.s. coming to see you guys regardless!!

I’m from Los Angeles and I didn’t even know there were any electronic acts around. I guess I need to get out more!

Love this post: Name dropping, exposure and free tickets, nice work! Would love to be in LA for the show or in LA to check out a few of the mentioned acts.

dear san francisco / new york,

since every act in LA gets completely over hyped as soon as they open for 4 other bands at 7pm for an audience of 6, there is no one here that is “underrated”. “underrated” is a term that should be reserved for laptop fiends who spend their time twiddling analogue synth knobs waiting for it to be warm (winter in nyc, summer in sf). we appreciate the thought, but seeing that the glitch mob was touring europe within 3 minutes of releasing their first XLR8R podcast, “underrated electronic acts” don’t really exist here.

thanks for thinking of us,

los angeles

I would have to say the most underrated artists in LA would have to be
Baths/Geotic, Shlohmo, and Tokimonsta.
All of these artists are bending the hip hop, electronic, and dubstep genres with a mastery that goes beyond most artists that are double their ages.

“name the three most underrated electronic acts in LA right now”
You’ve got to be stupid, completely new to the scene, and ignorant if you think artists such as FlyLo, Daedelus, Tokimonsta, Nosaj Thing, and Mr. Dibiase are underrated.
I’m going with:
1. Tom Croose
2. Haz Solo
3. Burntpiano

To expand on what I meant above, all those artists are getting the attention, publicity, and credit they deserve. They’re definitely awesome but by no means underrated.

@kain in my opinion, no matter how popular someone is they can always be underrated. #flyinglotus
