Princeton 1966

Posted by Alex

I came upon these pictures from the Princeton 1966 yearbook while tracking down a copy of Take Ivy. These shots are reminiscent of those in Hayashida’s book, but they are actually from a year later and were just published in the school yearbook. I went to prep school and I did not look this cool.

What I love about these shots is the feeling of potential that is conveyed. I feel like important things are being discussed; movers and shakers are in the making. It appears impossible to not achieve ultimate focus in this academic environment.

Okay seriously, how can I be teleported to the 1960s?! Great photos

@ Chris “There is a really cool feeling of silence in these photos”…yes, weird. But so true.

@Alex: Years worth of mixtape covers actually. I’m gonna put a different deep quote on each one. ;)

@Scott: Touche.

I love this blog. This line (or the perspective that goes into writing such a line) pretty much embodies the reason I do so: “I went to prep school and I did not look this cool.”

Alex, really interesting set of pictures. I know what you mean about there being a sense of potential in the photos. It got me thinking though, if the photos were not of Princeton but of some other school in the same time period would you feel the same thing?

So is the feeling of potential you get from the photos because of what you already know about Princeton or is it genuinely captured in the photo?

Hope that makes sense! Cool photos nonetheless
