New Tycho Single On Pitchfork

Pitchfork posted the new Tycho single today. As far as I know this is the first time the full length track has been available anywhere. You can have a listen here.

Listening now. Really great song as always! Loving the synth panning at the beginning.

sounds like the disco biscuits or sector 9. have you been listening to a lot of jambands lately? sounds cool.

Nice, cant wait for the album.

Awesome! Grabbing it now!

Nice! The track is good and the mix really works well. I know you really struggled with it in mastering. Now that I have had a chance to hear just how much layering there is I can really hear how this would have been tricky to get right. Good news, it was worth it.

Sounds beautiful, the Manual remix was good but this is unbelievable

i love the entrance of the bass. song sounds good, man.

I’d be interested to know what’s the logic behind releasing this early tho…on one hand you could definitely be incentivizing people to grab it if they like it, having heard the whole thing, but on the other hand, it seems kind of dangerous…I mean the MP3 is right there for download.
I pre-ordered a physical a while back, so it doesn’t matter either way from my perspective, I was just really surprised to see this…thanks for putting an early end to my suffering and looping the sample on the Ghostly store over and over.

Great work Scott.

Blimey. I’d totally abused the Manual remix when you posted it on the blog, thinking that that was the best mix. Scott. Well done. This one’s a real solid solid track.

Wow. Christmas comes early…
December 1st, 2009 at 5:15 pm
Hmm. A free download? I’ve already pre-ordered Coastal Brake though…
I’m right there with Alex when asking, “What’s the logic behind releasing this early?”

Ye same here, kinda confused why is it for free:S

Scott:
Is there a reason why you don’t have Clear Type anti-aliasing enabled? Because in the screenshot the fonts look very, very rough.
It was great hearing the new track though, I can’t wait till I can purchase the MP3’s.

Jay-
I don’t like cleartype, I like my web nice and aliased. the main reason though is so that I can comp websites. For instance, I’ll screenshot the blog before a redesign and do a replace color on the various text areas, this doesn’t work with cleartype on.

beautiful work as usual… i expected nothing less.
December 1st, 2009 at 8:00 pm
Sounds excellent, I’m impressed… can’t wait for the album, definitely one of my most anticipated this year.
December 1st, 2009 at 8:18 pm
Very good.
December 1st, 2009 at 8:41 pm
Thanks Scott, I figured there must have been some reason, I know I’ve done the same for mockups as well. But I’m still shocked that you’d prefer browsing the web without anti-aliasing, some fonts and font sizes just don’t render well at all without it. Either way, it was still great to hear the new track!

YAY Birthday present. Perfect for my 18th! thanks!

I am at a loss for words. This track is simply exquisite at every level. Life is good!

This song is so unique, it feels so solid and real. It’s really accessible and sounds awesome when played loud

Finally, I got to hear the original version! Stoked. Must say, the last thing I expected was to get the full downloadable song for free. So I guess I’m with Alex and Shelby on that one.
I hate listening to remixes before the originals, don’t know why, perhaps it’s some odd form of loyalty, but, I’m kinda surprised, I equally like the manual remix. It had more beachy imagery, I think it’s because the guitar stood out more and as a result felt less synthy.
I like the progressive nature of your version. Always love that in tracks.

Very, very good track Scott.

This track is amazing, listening to it blast with a good sub is such an experience.
The more I think about it, the more I think it was genuinely awesome of Ghostly to put this out early, and I think Pitchfork will be a huge help in turning new listeners on to this unique sound.

This is simply fantastic. Looking forward to seeing your set in NYC.
December 2nd, 2009 at 4:23 pm
Such incredible atmosphere. I was in such great anticipation as to how this would sound compared to that Past is Prologue moods. Couldn’t be happier. Can we hang out and make music?! Ha. I’m all over that EP package!
Could the art be any better? I especially love the minimalistic track list on the back. So nice.

Fantastic track. I excited for the album.
I just put coastal brake as one of my five favorite tracks of the year on pitchfork’s reader survey.
