Milton Glaser Poster+Book Giveaway

UPDATE: Comments are closed, we’ll be picking a winner today. Thank you to everyone who entered!
To Inform & Delight is a new documentary about the life and work of Milton Glaser. It’s currently playing in San Francisco, at the Roxie Theater, and will be in other selected US cities this summer. Further info on the site.
In support of the film, we are doing a giveaway of a couple signed posters and Glaser’s new book Drawing is Thinking. The grand prize will be one hand-signed (by Mr. Glaser himself) film poster and one copy of the book (displayed above). The runner up will receive one hand-signed (by Mr. Glaser himself) film poster. To enter, just comment on this post and be sure to leave your email address so that we can contact you if you win (email will not be publicly visible). The winners will be chosen at random from the comments on Tuesday, June 30th, 2009. Click here to enter!
If you’re in the San Francisco area, make sure to get out to the Roxie and catch this before it’s gone. It will be showing through the 25th of June. Also worth checking out is the Hilman Curtis short film on Glaser if you haven’t already.

Milton is great! I had a book design project for school last year which was to be based around a well known designer, who’s name we pulled from a hat. I ended up with Milton Glaser. It was definitely a great learning experience researching his work.

Drawing is thinking… I wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment.
Actually, I now wish I’d come up with this succinct phrase for that twitter #whyIsketchlogos competetion that was around a while back. Alas.
This time, though…
Also, you guys have some brilliant musical taste. Your articles and colours are rad, but it’s the possibility of new musical tips that keeps your tab up permanently in my browser.

Awesome giveaway!
June 23rd, 2009 at 11:58 pm
Best. Idea. Ever.
Mr. Glaser is a personal hero of mine. Good to hear that the film is getting the publicity it deserves. Makes me wish I still lived in the LA area so that I could catch a screening. Unfortunately, I think that unless it hits the threshold of 150,000 semi-wide release I will have to wait until the DVD. Which, makes me sad.
June 24th, 2009 at 12:06 am
Amazing giveaway! Thank you very much!
Hopefully this film will be played out here in Denver.
June 24th, 2009 at 12:15 am

June 24th, 2009 at 12:56 am
Loving rather.
June 24th, 2009 at 1:35 am
What a great giveaway!
Shame the UK is a little far away to catch the screening.
June 24th, 2009 at 1:53 am
Milton is a true inspiration to the generations of new designers world wide. His works are the right example that great design with the right idea can produce a tidal wave impact of creative thinking.
I also think that I have 0% chances of winning giveaway, because I’m from Serbia, a country that’s lightyears away (by the postal terms) from the US.
Nevertheless, I still enjoy looking at Bob Dylans poster that I have printed and taped together out of A4 sheets of paper, back when it was the only way for me to have it on my wall. My room changed but I never had heart to take the poster down. It is worn down and some edges are torn, but it was the first thing I printed on my jet printer almost 10 years ago. I think it’s going to be hanging there for a lot more time.
June 24th, 2009 at 2:09 am
Do you send it overseas too??? will love it..actually I want it so badly…
June 24th, 2009 at 2:12 am

June 24th, 2009 at 7:20 am
His work is such an inspiration to me as a designer. That, and my dad keeps hording his original dylan glaser poster, so this way I could one-up him! Would absolutely love to have this.
June 24th, 2009 at 7:24 am
Can’t wait to read the book!
June 24th, 2009 at 7:24 am
His work reminds some of Edward Tufte, whose thoughts about information and the surprisingly beautiful way that information and ideas can be communicated.
June 24th, 2009 at 7:37 am
I did a study on Glaser in college. I would love to win of course!
June 24th, 2009 at 7:50 am
Awesome… Will have to wait for the dvd because the film will probably never make it to Jacksonville… but I’ll be looking forward to it!

that is inceed a rockin’ poster. book looks good too!
June 24th, 2009 at 3:54 pm
Wicked! One question: How do you choose the winner in these sort of things? It’s hard to randomize comments.
June 24th, 2009 at 3:55 pm
I ask because I want to know if comments on the top and the bottom have the same chances of winning
June 24th, 2009 at 4:00 pm
i want to make my mark in art but i always feel helpless when i am uninspired. i hope i win this. i have no money for such books. Milton Glaser seems like a really interesting person.
June 24th, 2009 at 4:03 pm
How exciting! I would love to win this giveaway. Great looking poster!
June 24th, 2009 at 4:03 pm
i hope i win!
June 24th, 2009 at 4:14 pm
i’ve always wondered what the world would be like without “i heart ny” t shirts all over the place.
June 24th, 2009 at 4:15 pm
This man is the artist who took graphic design from trade to triumph. When the history of graphic design in the U.S. is written, the book can be divided into sections: before and after Milton Glaser. I am thrilled he’s being honored for the genius and visionary artist that he is…
June 24th, 2009 at 4:55 pm
Can’t wait to see this movie when it comes out on disc, unless I am lucky enough to have it come to Grand Rapids, MI, but that is unlikely. I think this poster would be awesome.
June 24th, 2009 at 5:57 pm
Amazing
Milton Glaser work is pretty epic,

June 24th, 2009 at 9:29 pm
I did a paper on him in college and it will be and honor and pleasure to see this movie. I wonder if its coming to NYC.
Design is NEVER empty.

I’ll try sending my comment again. Send one yesterday but it never showed up in the list. Maybe it’s a conspitacy?
To bad I won’t be able to see this film, because I live in a country far, far, away… But stuff like tha sure need publicity and because of sites like this, we, mere mortals, have the opportunity to get some information and may have some chance of googlin’ for the way to find out more. Thanx for that. Here is a cheer for you – YAY!
June 25th, 2009 at 12:02 am
Great giveaway, looking forward to seeing the film.

June 25th, 2009 at 5:33 am
Thats a lot of scrolling down indeed!
funny how the longer the odds get the more you think …F*&k it … probably a waste of time… but maybe I’ll just comment anyway…. gotta be in to win, no?
Heres to hoping (caveat: but only as long as chances are slim enough to not be disappointed when you dont win.)

awesome!
June 27th, 2009 at 8:11 am
I was excited about the giveaway…Milton Glaser has been a hero since my childhood! One of the reasons I became a graphic designer, art/creative director was because of his simple and powerful images. I love the way he communicates through art and type! I was not aware of the book and I’m looking forward to an inspirational read!
Thanks!

Its funny. I frequent this blog every couple days. It seems on average the comments are around 4 to 16 tops. But on this give away, it reaches a staggering 370+.
People like free stuff.
*By the way, I’m not trying to be witty and ironic to get a chance at the prize. Just an observation. Good blog though!
