Sony DPS-R7 Reverb DOA

My Sony R7 Reverb from eBay came today, dead. I replaced a dead battery tonight but that didn’t clear anything up, still just passing a dry signal and a dead rotary encoder knob. Not sure what the issue is, if anyone knows a good Sony tech let me know, I have the schematics. Also need a good Lexicon tech too.

Do you want someone local? I know someone who could probably manage this, but it’d be another round of shipping.

Even when your taking pictures of your broken gear, I can’t help but attention to the color in lighting in all of your photos

But you know what isn’t broken, that nice Death Adder Razer mouse.

I pulled my R7 from the rack and powered it up to find a dead encoder wheel and no backlight on the LCD… the battery is fine at 3.0v After much puzzlement I began measuring the many many regulators (A variety of 78xx and 79xx as well as LA5666 ICs…
Check the two 5v regulators, IC 903 and 904… mine were putting out 0.7 and 1.8v… I will be replacing them in two days.

PS: I want those Chameleon Labs knobs ( the old grey ones). I see that you have replaced them with the black metal knobs…

I have an R7 that’s DOA as well–behaving exactly as Chuck’s after a battery replacement.
Did replacing the two 5v regulators end up fixing the dead encoder/backlight problem?
