M.S Corely redesigned the Harry Potter Series to look like Penguin classics. They haven’t actually been published like this, but it looks like it would have been a fun project. (He also gave the Lemony Snicket series the same treatment.)

    beautiful.

Does he really think its called the Philosophers stone?

Nice one, Alex, and although the covers are beautiful on their own, IMHO they completely miss the spirit of the whole Harry Potter thing. For example, the last one reminds me of some ’60s spy novel, just too serious (sorry I cannot find a better expression right now, but close enough). They just miss the playfulness, as if to tell “this is a book for adults, too, you know”.

It is called that isn’t it? Nice covers, I work at Penguin and I WISH we published them!!!

Corey, the original title in Great Britain was Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

They changed the title when they released it in America.

these are cool…although they may not capture the entire spirit of the harry potter series, I still really like them. they immediately reminded me of this site I found that had redesigns for video games and movies that have been reworked into book covers…check it out. very similar style to these…

Exact same idea here, only with movies. Tons of them: http://spaces...-series.html

I think these are extremely well done.

I have a Penguin fetish myself (particularly the Marber grid era covers) and have been messing about with doing my own new “old” covers in this style for a while now (although I’m not an illustrator, so mine are photo-based).

    @ shaycam

I would gladly pay money to get some of those movie-book covers enlarged and mounted. They are just brilliant.

these are just great. …I DO judge books their covers, and these would definitely get a double-take if I saw them in a bookstore!

Olly Moss is the one who started this whole trend of redesigning the covers/
