Ghostly Swim: New Tycho Single

Posted by Scott

gs
The Ghostly Swim compilation featuring the new Tycho single Cascade [Live Version] is now available for free download at the Adult Swim site. This new track is, as the name implies, a live mix of a new song which will be included on the next full length Tycho release. There’s a flash player you can embed on your site which includes the Tycho track, you can get the code at the Ghostly Swim site.

Once again, it’s free, so head on over to the site and snag your copy. There’s also an exclusive video featuring BoyCatBird and an impossibly hot Mux Mool cut from the comp (you have to click in the lower right corner  of the page to view it).

Compilation is breath-taking! So many great tracks, I think Osborn – Wait a Minute is my absolute favorite– it sparks images in my mind of a Rick James robot dancing around with a mix of 80’s-era scientists and robo-ho’s.

Cascade is, as always, an awesome song, but this time I’ve noticed a little more sadness to it, as most of your music sounds to me like it has a tinge of optimism (Send and Recieve is the best example I think). Anything behind this change of mood or am I just letting my imagination influence what I hear too much?

Wonderful, deep textures. The live element gave a great flow to the song. Looking forward to the whole album release :-)

songs this good make me upset. I was making music for hours the other day and then I listened to Cascade and felt an enormous sense of inferiority. :[

in short, keep up the great work. :]

Nice album, and nice tune, Scott :-) Had to figure out the tracknumbers before I added the album to iTunes tho, the names did not have numbers, just in the id3v2-tags.

I see you havn’t change your favicon yet ;-)

That is one fine track there you Mr. Hansen. I’m still futzing around with my PowerBook, Korg Electribe ER-1 and Automat Synthesizer and I can’t even make anything solid. All in good fun. Anyway can’t wait for more!

Cascade – I’d love to listen to this track in it’s right context: your coming album, but here’s my opinion for now:

I totally agree with Alex. This one has a more sad feel to it than usual.

I like how the heavy drums are slowly pushing forward the dreamy and melancholic tones – all interweaved by the soft voice of Jianda.

02:59 – This part of the track is VERY loaded, but serves as a great contrast to the peaceful “lead out” (or what you call it) at 03:25. Good balance I think.

Thumbs up!

thanks everyone… your feedback is much appreciated.

David-
the mp3 player plugin is called “Audio Player” more info is here: http://www.1pixelout.net/category/audio-player/

Joaquim-
yeah, the levels were a little hot towards the end and some things got distorted, but I think it’s a nice overdriven vibe and after all it is a live version. The final cut will be a little more polished.

Hi I’m listening to the album now and it’s amazing how many good tracks are featuring in it. Ghostly Swim is excellent. The Chap who is featuring in the album will be in Manchester [UK] next week for Futuresonic (May 1-5)… I’m really looking forward to checking out their live shows and performances. If anybody will be around let me know, since it’s all about social networking this year we could manage a Ghostly Swim workgroup, he-he-he! ;o) Enjoy the excellent music! And, again, the sincerest congrats Scott, Cascade is awesome!

waouh! I’ve been following you as a graphic designer for a while now, but never really got into your music project.

And that’s a great introduction to it there, very neat track! Love it :)

I will surely post it on my audioblog.

Your track is bloody amazing – so amazing that I wrote a review about it. And I’m quite lazy, so that doesn’t happen often.

Man, I was searching all over the place for this song after I heard it at Terrabyte 2.0 in August! Glad to see there’s a well-recorded version of it out now.
