Deru + Osborne + Jose Gonzalez + Pantha

Posted by Jakub

I’ve seen Deru play a few shows with Tycho, he always gets a crowd going with what some people might call IDM but it can’t be you know why because girls dance to Deru and girls don’t dance to IDM. This is definitely for fans of older Lusine but with a bit more noise, damage and darkness.

Osborne’s Afrika is a classic on Spectral Sound, I couldn’t imagine anyone wanting to take on a remix of it since its such a killer track originally. Recently though Bullion stepped up the challenge with luscious results.

Everyone probably has this Jose Gonzalez cover of The Knife’s Heartbeats, I just felt like the blog would be naked without it archived somewhere.

Animal Collective’s Panda Bear collabing with anyone seems like a good idea but after hearing him over a flat 4/4 it kind of makes me think not, I love both Panda Bear and Pantha Du Prince but this remix is just a wee bit off but the video has a nice treatment and is pretty entertaining.

That Deru track is great, thanks!

Bullion is an artist that I can’t wait for an LP from. This remix is insanely good. For those of you who haven’t checked out his “Pet Sounds: In The Key of Dee” in which he splices Beach Boys and Jay Dilla .. sooo good.

Jakub, you may not think much of the Panda Bear / Pantha du Prince collaboration–and it may have much to do with that wonderful video–but I can’t get this out of my head. Can you provide any more information about the track, please?

Jakub, totally agree with your description of the video. I think nearly every song has its application however and its kind of a droney song i could space out to and get some work done without getting distracted by the music. But ya, i can imagine it’d be hard posting songs on a blog with the fear of regurgitating too much or losing interest by posting songs people already know of. I dunno, if you got something to say about any song i say just post it. Nothing wrong with a little music refreshment.

I know girls that dance to IDM :)
Have loved and danced to Lusine and Deru both for years.

I concur with the Jose Gonzales track. It’s one of those I play the movie trailer of my past to.
