Black To Comm - Alphabet 1968
Ulrich Schnauss has already become our generations Dream Pop captain, with his beautiful cover of Slowdive for Morr Music to this gem from his A Strangely Isolated Place LP, I hope we get something special in 2010 from him.

Black To Comm is what I thought Manitoba and Mum set out to become in my head as these musicians that would make PBS nostalgia soundtracks but it all worked out in the end.

Is it true that Arovane doesn’t make music and now dirt bike’s? i’d like this fuzzy memory confirmed, his album Tides is still one of the best listens to calm yourself or fall asleep to.

If you opened a window and let a sun come into a Stars Of The Lid song then you’d getting something very similar to what Rameses III is doing.

Ulrich Schnauss – Monday – Paracetamol – BUY

Black To Comm -Trapez – BUY

Arovane – Seaside – BUY

Rameses III – Cloud Kings – BUY

Ulrich is fantastic. The moment I heard his stuff several years ago, he became one of my favorites. “Goodbye” was fantastic, so I can’t wait for more from him. “Strangely Isolated Places” is definitely my favorite from him.

Dude, great stuff. I’ve been looking for some new, quality ambient/drone stuff and Ramses III hit it on the nose. I love the way you described them. Loving this stuff! Gotta get me some more Ulrich Schnauss too. I don’t have enough.

Oh my god, this post is magical.
I was looking for this kind of music, since I listen to Tycho for the first time.

Thanks for this tracklist :)

I heard the same thing about Arovane; he dismantled his studio after making his last album Lilies. Such a shame.

Now after listening to that first track a few times it toooootalllllly reminds me of Vangelis’ soundtrack for the movie Antarctica in a weird way. Check out the tune Theme from Antarctica and see if you get where I’m coming from.

Great post, but they always are! Schnauss and Arovane, two of my all time favorites. Maybe you’ll like Sense, Kettel and Secede too? The latter are two dutch composers – I’m not biased ;)

Je suis français, sa doit faire plus de 2ans que je viens sur votre site. Et franchement le son que vs mettez, de n’importe quel artiste est splendide.
J’espére que un jours vous viendriez en France nous faire un concert de IsO 50
Je vs adore ^^

two of the four artists produce work that has lulled me to sleep and composed my nerves from the abyss: life for some time now. arovane has been extremely influential. i do hope there continues to be music done by arovane. ‘tides’ was my first, ‘lilies’ – amazing…Ulrich, you’re a genius..always a pleasure to listen to your timeless work.
thank you.
